Student Drawings of Hurtig, Gardner & Froelich

The drawings shown below were created in 1954-57 by John Hurtig, Jim Gardner & Norman Froelich while they were architecture students under the tutelage of visionary architect Bruce Goff at the University of Oklahoma. The media used by John, Jim & Norman were pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, tempera paint, crayon, ink wash and pen on illustration board, transparency, tracing paper, engineering paper and mylar.

In August 2009, the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center exhibited several of the works shown below. Recently, John Hurtig has continued with a new series of drawings reminiscent of the drawings he completed in 1954-57.
