This was a Design/Build prototype project completed on time and under budget. This 55,000 sf one-story, three-track elementary school and fully developed, 12-acre site located in Pueblo West, Colorado included grading, paving, site utilities, landscaping and physical education field/courts.
Construction is of load bearing CMU and interior steel frame with bar joists on spread footings and slab-on-grade floors. It has a 7,200 sf mezzanine to house mechanical equipment and allow for clerestory lighting. Special features include central audio-visual VCR service, a computer classroom, a pre-kindergarten classroom and a serving kitchen. The structural design and layout allow quick construction, along with flexibility to meet different educational programs.
Cedar Ridge Elementary School and Praire Winds Elementary School, also located in Pueblo West, both share this design.
